After seeing recent reports from the Australian Bureau of Statistics detailing the survival rates of small businesses, Xugar founder and owner Sagar Sethi realised that the services they already offered would be great for businesses looking to get established without experience. “These days lots of people are looking to start their own businesses. According to the Australian Bureau of statistics, the survival rate of small businesses has dropped dramatically over the last 4 years. In their June 2014-2018 report it was found that small businesses, i.e. businesses with less than 5 employees, and businesses with an annual turnover of up to $200,000, had an average survival rate of 51.2%. Xugar is hoping that helping new business owners to learn the essentials and get their businesses up off the ground will increase the number of successful businesses, and spur creativity and competition in Melbourne’s start-up ecosystem.
